It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to P town and can’t believe I’ve been missing out on all the fun for this long. Provincetown, MA, affectionately dubbed P town by the locals, is located at the tip of Cape Cod and just over an hour away from Hyannis with little traffic. Without a car, it is accessible through a ferry from Boston or the Cape Flyer train from South Station with a Peter Pan bus connection. Either way, grab your mask and it’ll be well worth the trip! I am so excited to share the little gems I found on this adventure and cannot wait to go back for more.

Pop and Dutch

Nothing screams lunchtime in the summer like a good sandwich. We picked Pop + Dutch for a light lunch and ordered a chicken salad sandwich and turkey, cheddar, avo sandwich online. As Connor described it, their lemonade is the kind that you cannot stop sucking down. They leave your order on a table outside the door so it is the perfect contactless setup!

Ptown Harbor

We didn’t want to lose our parking spot so we chose to beach right in Provincetown as opposed to driving to the national seashore. Ptown Harbor is an excellent beach for little kids or dogs because the water is super shallow and clear. Rows of boats protect the beach from any waves. Connor and I had a ton of fun searching for little critters and easily spotted an assortment of spider crabs, blue crabs, and hermit crabs. We even saw a horseshoe crab and a rainbow critter with tons of tiny legs. Ptown Harbor provided sufficient entertainment for the curious explorer to come out to play.

Bliss! P’town Frozen Yogurt

As you may know, I am a big soft serve girl. A BIG soft serve girl. The soft serve from Bliss! was hands down one of the most delicious soft serves I have ever tried. I’m not sure if it was because of the service or the cuteness of the swirl or the fact that the sprinkles were FREE, but I’m still thinking about it. We shared a small black cherry vanilla soft serve and I cannot wait to go back for more (which I heavily considered doing on the same day). Though the menu is smaller because of COVID-19, they still serve their housemade frozen yogurt, waffle cones, and boast a better soft serve selection than Boston can speak for.

The Canteen

The Canteen is perfect because it is a beach front outdoor restaurant with counter service. We stopped to grab a drink before dinner, but they also offer a food menu if you choose to dine there. Best of all, there were plenty of tables available at 5:30 and we were able to grab the front table by the beach with no wait. Honestly, you cannot get better than that. I limited myself to a frose but I’m curious to try their hot lobster roll next time!

Discovering and successfully snagging a seat at this beautiful, hip outdoor restaurant was one of my greatest finds on this trip. This restaurant put up wooden dividers with windows for each booth for social distancing, but I love the privacy it provides. Between the ambiance and the flora and fauna, I was transported to a tropical/jungle-esque getaway. I highly recommend getting on the waitlist at this bar for, at the very least, a drink!

Herring Cove Beach

If you know me, you know that I am not very good at locating which direction the sun will set. However, I can tell you that if you want the best view of the sunset, Herring Cove is the place to be. We headed down to the beach at 7:30 to bask in golden hour and walk along the shore. Be sure to bring a sweatshirt because it still got chilly despite a 90-degree day! If you have the time to spare, stay a little while longer after the sun passes below the horizon for the ultimate display of colors.
