It’s completely unintentional that I have two “low commitment” DIYs on the blog, but I owe it to the fact that post grad life means busy days, apartment rentals, and budgets. But if you know me, I love plants and greenery and feeling like I live in an urban jungle. I present to you my new moss wall project that is completely customizable to your space’s needs. It’s light enough to move from apartment to apartment, requires zero attention, and creates the ambiance of a lux hotel from a tropical vaca.

You will need:

  • floral foam

  • a shadow box of choice

  • preserved moss

  • hot glue gun

Creating this moss wall is quite simple. The first thing I did was set the foundation by cutting the foam to fit the shadow box. The rest is truly up to your own imagination. I wanted to vary textures/colors and draw the eye to the center so I used the flat sheet moss for the corners and little balls of moss to build height/puffy goodness in the center of the moss wall. Be sure to cover the sides of foam that protrudes from the shadow box with moss: I love how this gives the effect of super lush moss growing outward! If you want to add more elements to the piece, dried mushrooms, drippy spanish moss, or an twisted branch are great centerpieces.
